All glacier guides wear shorts. The rest of us wear rain pants. It rains 180 days each year, so a raincoat is essential. The sun was shining when we left the village. |

This is what the less gritty side of a glacier looks like. You have to go up a bit before you can see it. From the bottom it is mostly gravel and rocks. |
